Get an overview of how the system can handle medical waste mailback customers.
If you are a medical waste affiliate, and you have customers that receive medical waste mailback containers, the system has a special way to handle the sequence of events, from mailing out the container all the way to dropping it off at the treatment facility. The first step is to assign yourself to the Medical Waste Mailback service type, under Manage Manifest > Settings > Settings. The mailback documents that we provide are slightly different from the regular medical waste documents.
When the documents are in place it is then recommended that you create a truck that is designated as your mailback truck. The purpose of the mailback truck is to house the pending manifest that you mail out while the customer is still in possession of the containers associated with the manifest. Another key piece is that you will need to enter in your mailback pickup items, which may essentially be a duplicate of your pickup items for medical waste. Also, if you bill using our system, rules will need to be created that encompass your billable mailback containers.
With the mailback truck and pickup items in place, you can then log in to the driver portal, select the designated mailback truck, and perform a "pickup". The "pickup" you just performed is now in the system the same way a regular medical waste pickup would be. The only difference is that you can't drop off a manifest from the designated mailback truck.
When the mailback containers are returned to you, the next step is to transfer the associated manifest to a medical waste truck or transfer station. When transferred, the mailback manifest and associated data will behave exactly like its regular medical waste counterpart, and it can be dropped off at a treatment facility.
