During the week of 8/20/22 billing will be going through a minor restructuring.
What is changing structurally?
Pickup and delivery rules will now be allowed to be assigned to more than one rule class. This means that an exact rule with exact parameters will only need to be created once, and it can be shared among rule classes. This results in less rules needing to be created, and it will be much faster to add pickup or delivery items to the system and then get them operational in the billing center. It will also be much easier to move a customer with custom pricing into a different rule class. If the two rule classes share some, or most, of the same rules, then the customer's custom price will remain intact in the new rule class.
None of your existing rules will change in any way.
What is changing visually?
When viewing the pickup and delivery rule pages, you will notice that the components of the page have changed slightly. You can still switch among your rule classes with ease, to view the rules that comprise them, but now there are more robust select options. You can change the way the view operates, allowing you to see all of the rules in the system that make up a particular item/service or item/service set.
As an example, clicking on the select list that says "Rules Based On" will bring up other options besides Rule Class. If you are a medical waste affiliate, you will see an option to view your medical waste item/service list and your medical waste item/service set list. If you use CPNet, you will see options to view these same lists for your partner affiliates. When you select one of these alternate options, you will then be allowed to choose the exact item, service, or set that you want to view. When you select an item, service, or set the view will change and you will see all of the rules in the system for that item, service, or set. The rules will be structured by rule class.
These new view options will allow you to more easily determine where rules are missing, and more easily add them where needed. For example, if you are viewing all of the rules for a rule class called ABC Rule Class, and you realize that you are missing a rule for a 3 Gallon item, you can then change the view to see all of your existing 3 Gallon item rules, then edit one of those rules so it becomes part of ABC Rule Class. While viewing all of the 3 Gallon item rules, you may then notice that there are other rule classes that don't have a 3 Gallon item rule, in which case you can take care of those rule classes as well.
